Thordon Bearings, a world leader in grease and oil-free bearing solutions has announced the introduction of Composite EF®, a newly-designed water lubricated bearing offering all the benefits of the proven long-lasting Thordon Composite bearing now with the ease of installation of a bronze-backed rubber bearing.

Composite EF® is supplied in a single 3:1 L/D length with finished inside diameter to standard shaft sizes from 152mm to 305mm (6" to 12") and overbuild on the outside diameter to accommodate variations in housing sizes. One-seventh the weight of metallic bearings, two persons can easily handle and fit the largest Composite EF® size eliminating the need for heavy rigging.

Specially formulated to provide superior wear life in very abrasive water conditions such as inland river systems, Thordon Composite EF® bearings operating in combination with hard coated nickel-chrome-boron sleeves routinely outwear rubber propeller shaft bearings by a factor of two or more. With over fifteen years experience on hundreds of push boats operating on America's muddy Mississippi River system confirm real-life bearing wear rates of 0.075mm to 0.100mm (0.003" to 0.004") in 6000-7000 hours of annual use.
