Prysmian Cables and Systems is the world's largest energy cable maker. It offers the world markets a full range of ship board cables as well as a very wide variety of telecommunication and power cables for many different applications. Prysmian was formed in 2005 when Pirelli sold its entire cable industry. The new name of the new, but at the same time old, cable company became Prysmian Cables and Systems. Prysmian's roots are more than 125 years old and it has during the years achieved a strong and leading position in the cables and systems market. There are now over 50 manufacturing facilities in over 20 countries on all five continents. The marketing network covers more than 120 counties all over the world. In 2005, Prysmian's total net sales worldwide were about 3,500 million Euros. Prysmian's marine cable units are active in creating new and better cables and cabling solutions as well as developing existing ones. Marine cables are mainly manufactured in Finland (Pikkala), in Germany (Neustadt and Schwerin) and in Italy (at the Palazzo plant close to Milan). Marine cables are also made in Turkey at the Mudanya plant. There is innovation, know-how, experience and a strong tradition of keeping close contact with the ship building industry. PRYSMIAN'S MARINE CABLESPrysmian's Technergy marine cable collection incorporates a very wide range of marine cables for all possible uses on board a ship. There are all kinds of cables from 60V pair twisted cables to normal 1kV power cables and 20kV medium voltage cables. There are also special bus and fiber optic cables. The aim of developing our range of marine cables is to create added value for our customers, shipyards, owners, marine installators, distributors and marine OEM companies. By making our total system attractive to the customer, we believe we are as a cable maker taking an important step towards supplying cabling solutions that will have a decisive impact on increasing our customers' profitability.
