BASS, providing BASSnet™ Fleet Management Software Solutions, is proud to announce an agreement with Farstad Shipping ASA, a leading Norwegian Shipping company operating Offshore Supply Vessels globally.

The agreement will provide Farstad’s entire fleet (46 vessels) including seven newbuilds scheduled for delivery in 2005 and 2006, with BASS CrewNet and BASS PayNet solutions.

According to Geir Hjelle, Maritime Personnel Manager at Farstad, the BASS solutions is a good fit for the company’s global profile. “We sought a flexible crewing/payroll software solution that could administrate our international operation of offshore vessels and offices in Australia, Scotland, Brazil and Norway,” he says. “After careful evaluation of several maritime software suppliers, we found that BASS CrewNet and BASS PayNet catered for our various world wide requirements.”

Geir Michaelsen, Regional Sales Manager BASS, says the agreement was reached following a comprehensive evaluation process. “As a software provider,” he says, “part of our challenge is to educate the market about the benefits of our IT applications to the maritime industry.” Michaelsen explains that BASS CrewNet is an advanced, cost-effective solution designed to improve crew management operations. The system enables rapid exchange of vital crew-related information, ensuring that crew management routines and procedures are consistent with the latest regulatory requirements. “These were some of the reasons Farstad choose BASS solutions,” Michaelsen adds.

BASS PayNet streamlines and integrates the management of ship-to-shore crew payroll and shipboard accounting processes. BASS PayNet functionalities and business re-engineering enables users to capitalise on opportunities to reduce the workload on the vessel and on shore. “As BASS Paynet streamlines operations of payroll management from vessel to shore, the users will access accurate data which provides for improved decision-making,” says Michaelsen.
