MultiPlus Approved for Frigate Repurchase Agreement

13 February 2007

Spanish purchases of the ERP system MultiPlus may be set off against the repurchase agreement concerning new frigates for the Norwegian Defence, according to the Ministry of Defence. This means that the state-owned company Navantia, which is the frigate constructor, will assist MultiPlus Solutions in opening doors in Spain. In addition, MultiPlus Solutions has entered into a partnership agreement with Aeromarine to work the Spanish market.

With a total of NOK 21 billion, the purchase of five frigates from the state-owned Spanish shipyard group Navantia constitutes the Norwegian defence industry's largest investment project ever. As a contractual element, a repurchase agreement was made, in which the Spanish have committed themselves to conduct purchases in Norwegian industry for a total of app. NOK 10 billion over a ten-year period.

Most of the contracts have fallen to the Norwegian shipyard and weapon industry, which will supply the frigate with various components and weapon systems. The ICT industry, however, will also benefit from the repurchase agreement, as will a small number of other industries.

"Regardless of whether we sell to Navantia or other Spanish companies, the shipyard group can depreciate this against its repurchase obligation. Navantia will contribute in opening doors, in order for us to succeed in the Spanish market. However, nothing is free of charge. We have to work hard to benefit fully from the opportunities created from the approval of the repurchase agreement," said the sales and market director of MultiPlus, Kåre Pettersen.

To exploit the potential of the agreement, MultiPlus Solutions has entered into a partnership agreement with the Spanish system-integrator, Aeromarine, in Madrid. The Spanish company was established in 1969 and delivers software and IT solutions to the marine sector in Spain. The agreement with MultiPlus Solutions enables the company to offer complete ERP solutions to its customers.

The CEO of Aeromarine, Enrique Mora Lie, believes that the partnership agreement with MultiPlus Solutions is very compatible with the other activities of Aeromarine. "This cooperation is the perfect match; especially as MultiPlus Solutions covers both the marine sector as well as the land-based industry. In fact, we have been looking for a partner that delivers complete ERP solutions for a while," he stated.

Aeromarine offers a wide range of products and solutions, including support services. The customers of the Spanish company are primarily from the shipyard industry, fishing industry and shipping industry, which fits perfectly with the part of the Spanish market targeted by MultiPlus Solutions. The customer list of Aeromarine also includes the Spanish Navy.
