TorqueTrak torque telemetry instruments from Binsfeld Engineering are designed to measure true mechanical torque and power (hp or kW) on rotating propeller shafts in all types of ships and marine vessels. This includes shaft power measurement and shaft torque measurement. The true torque and power output data is compared in real-time, using shaft torque meters, to fuel consumption, ship speed, heading, weather conditions and other variables – critically important information in the pursuit of fuel efficiency, engine efficiency, emissions monitoring and optimization of the entire propulsion system. The first question to ask is whether you need temporary sea trial measurements or continuous monitoring and control. Binsfeld Engineering can supply torque telemetry instruments for both applications. Test and 'sea trial' measurement torque telemetry instrumentThe new TorqueTrak 10K test and 'sea trial' measurement torque telemetry instrument provides fast and easy torque or strain measurements. Portable, it fits any size of shaft and any torque level and is therefore great for fieldwork. It possesses a battery-powered RF transmitter (with a transmission distance of ~20ft), front panel display, remote control, power standby, shunt calibration, voltage and digital output signal, and more. The maximum delivery lead-time is two weeks. Continuous monitoring and control torque telemetry instrumentThe TorqueTrak Revolution from Binsfeld Engineering continuous monitoring and control torque telemetry instrument is a permanently installed system that provides continuous output data of torque, power, RPM and shaft direction. It is custom-machined to fit a particular shaft diameter, and provides inductive power and inductive data transfer. This means there are no batteries and no wear surfaces (please note a price premium will apply for shaft diameters larger than 14in / 355mm). Four independent output signals are standard for the TorqueTrak Revolution continuous monitoring and control torque telemetry instrument:
The maximum delivery lead-time is six weeks. Shaft power measurement data monitoring systems The Op-Torq Basic shaft power measurement data monitoring system provides:
Optional extras for Binsfeld Engineering's shaft power measurement data monitoring systems include twin-engine configuration, repeater display screen(s), larger display screen(s), and customized display and reports. A portable version in sturdy Pelican carrying case for sea trials is available. The Op-Torq Advance version includes the Op-Torq Basic system plus signal converters and software for fuel measurement and ship speed integration. Process-measurement data acquisition systemThe Op-Torq Field Test system from Binsfeld Engineering is a specialized data acquisition system used to process measurement data from the TorqueTrak 10K instruments during field testing, sea trials, etc. The system features software with powerful graphical tools and a USB acquisition module to record and analyze torque and RPM (optional) measurements on a rotating shaft, plus mechanical power (hp or kW) calculation and analysis.
