USDA Approval for Cargo Temperature Recording System

04 July 2005

EPC has successfully fitted their new system as an electronic back-up to existing recorders on five vessels to cover PPECB recommendations. This now means in the event of recorder failure, the vessel has a completely independent record of the cargo temperatures on disc for each voyage.

The system has been accepted by the USDA as a back-up to existing recorders, and can also be used to replace old recorders that can no longer be relied upon.

As a back-up system, signal converters are used to enable the existing recorders and the new data acquisition system to "read" from the same sensor as a main system. The signal converters are not required as the data acquisition system can "read" direct from the sensor. Back-up is achieved by using two computers.

Based on 70 points, the back-up system is £9,800 and a full replacement system is £10,500. Prices may vary depending on the ship's requirements. Installation takes approximately seven working days.

Hold Temperature Controllers

Where vessels are using old out-of-date controllers, we can replace these units on a like for like basis, i.e. replace using model 353 controllers programmed to the same functions.

These units are £1560.00 each (pre-programmed). Installation is simple and can be completed within seven working days.
