Engine and turbine control specialist HEINZMANN, based in Schönau, Germany has announced the takeover of UK-based Regulateurs Europa from diesel engine builder MAN B&W Diesel AG.
In a contract signed on 16th December 2005, HEINZMANN becomes 100% owner of the products and production facilities of Regulateurs Europa, including works in Colchester in the UK and Roden in the Netherlands.
"The products of Regulateurs Europa (RE) are an ideal complement to our existing products," notes HEINZMANN managing director Markus Gromer. "In particular, we add RE's state-of-the-art range of electro-hydraulic diesel engine governors to our own range of mechanical, analogue and digital electronic engine governors. RE also brings its longstanding experience in the control of locomotive diesels into the HEINZMANN portfolio.
The range of controls of RE and HEINZMANN together establishes us as a full line provider of controls for all major types of prime mover including complex applications such as gas and steam turbine combined cycle power systems."
There are also substantial synergies through the merging of the distribution and aftermarket arrangements of the two companies. "The service and repair activities of RE represent a useful extension to our global sales and service network," Gromer notes. "We also expect that sales of RE products will benefit from marketing via the extensive HEINZMANN network of subsidiaries and representations around the globe. Moreover, RE should also benefit from being part of an independent, specialist controls group, not closely associated with a single engine builder."
HEINZMANN states that it intends to modernise and extend the production facilities in the UK and the Netherlands in line with market developments.
HEINZMANN GmbH is a world leader in the field of mechanical and electronic speed and output controllers for diesel, dual-fuel and spark-ignited gas engines and gas turbines.
