Siri Marine - Marine Motion Monitors

Siri Marine provides marine services to the offshore, shipping and shipbuilding industries. The main tasks are development, implementation and operation of motion monitoring systems.

Motion monitoring systems

Siri Marine aims to be the preferred supplier of motion monitoring services in the maritime and offshore industry. We provide a system that is easy to install, has an excellent user interface and provides high quality data for real-time monitoring of motions and post-processing.

Standard products are suitable for numerous applications, but client-specific products can also be developed.

Marine operations services

Siri Marine cooperates with a group of small, specialized companies and individuals in various disciplines and is therefore able to provide complete marine operations services to clients.

The services include:

  • Motion response and motion prediction (Amarcon / Octopus system)
  • Engineering, sea fastening design, preparation of (marine) procedures
  • Weather forecasting and routing services (Argoss and SPOS)

Decision support systems for vessels

The main purpose of SiriMarine systems is to provide a 'decision support system' during transport, which gives on-board personnel real-time information on the actual motions (accelerations, angles, forces and deformation) of the vessel and generates warnings when the maximum allowable motions / forces on cargos and structures are reached.

The secondary purpose is to store all motion data during a voyage for post-processing and analysis on completion of the voyage. This can include the preparation of guidelines for future transports, documented as-build information, fatigue life calculations and documented proof on disputes between parties.

Our systems are ideal for motion monitoring of seagoing vessels, calculation of lashing forces and guarding maximum allowable motions and forces (IMO and Flag-state requirements for merchant navy vessels), as well as during heavy lift transportations, guarding maximum allowable motions and forces (to project-specific requirements and transport manuals).

They can also assist with tow monitoring (motion measurement on-board seagoing barges with real-time display onboard towing vessel), and decision support guidelines for 'weather dependent lashing' procedures for RoRo vessel and ferry systems:

Other applications include:

  • Hull integrity / hull deformation monitoring
  • Heave monitoring
  • Fatigue life calculations and fatigue consumption during the voyage
  • Jack-up rig motion monitoring and fatigue monitoring systems
  • Salvage systems

SiriMarine motion monitoring systems range

SiriMarine Motion.- this module consists of one or more DimMax sensors and dedicated PC-based software. The system measures, displays and logs the motions of a vessel (accelerations in 3D plus roll and pitch angles).

The cargo securing software included calculates the actual and allowable forces (sliding and tipping) on the cargoes. Maximum allowable values can be inserted and alarmed; additional features are GM calculations (based on natural roll periods), trend analyses, parametric roll warning, and GPS data input.

Hull integrity and condition module

This module consists of two or more DimMax sensors and dedicated PC-based software. The motion monitor is included in this module.

The system measures, displays and logs the deflection (hogging / sagging) and torsion in a vessel. Maximum allowable values are monitored and alarmed. The risk of over-stressing the vessel during loading and discharging in port can be eliminated.

Long term monitoring of actual bending moments versus theoretical bending moments during various loading conditions gives input for 'fatigue life' calculations and conclusions.

SiriMarine heavy lift vessel module

This module consists of two DimMax sensors on the heavy lift vessel or on the cargo and one extra sensor on the cargo. Motion monitor and hull stress modules are included. This module enables free position selection for monitoring of accelerations anywhere in the cargo. Log files from individual sensors enable post-processing of forces on the cargo.

SiriMarine heave module

Heave motions of free-floating units can be displayed. The module also displays the total heave motions between two individual free-floating units.

This module is especially suitable for offshore lifting / installation operations.

SiriMarine tow monitoring

The data transmission from sensors on a towed object are transmitted wireless to a tug. The status of the tow can be monitored real-time on the bridge of the tug.

SiriMarine auto-reports

Analytical software (MRU module) and a user-friendly interface has been included in the motion, hull integrity and heavy-lift monitoring modules, and provides maximum and standard deviation values (six DOF: transversal, longitudinal and vertical accelerations, roll, pitch and yaw) for 'fatigue life' calculations during the voyage. The display is also very suitable for monitoring the trends in the motions of a vessel.
