Uson Marine - Marine Waste Handling Systems

Uson Marine specialises in waste handling systems for the marine and offshore market. Our know-how is widely spread, from small cargo ships up to big passenger ships and platforms. We work with systems and equipments designed by ourselves, fulfilling all marine regulations and demands. This approach has earned us a good reputation since we started in 1983.

Global warming is probably the greatest challenge for our time. Through increased waste recycling we assist our customers and their clients to do their part by reducing the environmental impact caused by their operations. Furthermore, steeply increasing costs for disposal of waste in ports have placed effective waste management onboard ships and platforms very much in focus.

Uson Marine is involved in the process from design to installation, commissioning and training for the crew. By using our wide knowledge and experience we assist our clients to comply with current and future regulations such as those stipulated by e.g. IMO Marpol 73/78, whilst at the same time improving their environmental image.

HYGIENIC FOOD WASTE TREATMENT

Uson Marine has developed a one-way macerator system with local macerators, which is designed for hygienic transportation and treatment of food waste fulfilling the regulations stipulated by IMO Marpol 73/78 Annex V, US Coast Guard, etc.

By using this system, ship owners ensure:

• Lower water consumption
• Minimum the risk for blockage of food waste in the piping system
• Easy installation
• Smaller piping diameter
• Flexible pipe routing

In addition, the ground food waste can be de-watered by a sieve and press unit and our marine grease separator takes care of the greasy galley water. The system is suitable for retrofit onboard existing vessels.

We do not recommend mixing food waste slurry with either galley grey water or black water.

DRY WASTE TREATMENT

Our systems for dry shipboard solid waste comprise a number of units such as marine compactors and baling presses, marine glass crushers and marine shredders. All machines are designed by Uson Marine for the marine market with verification report from DNV maritime. The complete system will assist the crew in collecting, sorting, treating and storing the waste onboard and help them to comply with regulations worldwide.

WASTE CHUTE SYSTEM

Uson Chute system is designed for general dry waste, glass, tins and laundry in accordance with IMO SOLAS. It is a cost effective and efficient transport of waste to collection sites below and minimises the risk for cross contamination.

Space saving options such as a compacting shredder or glass crusher installed under the chute minimise waste volume and also ensures saving on expenses in port. The chute segments are delivered pre-fabricated modular segments with insulation for quick and easy installation. Minimum welding work required due to push-fit installation. GARBAGE MANAGEMENT PLAN

We use our experience and expertise to provide a garbage management plan, which guarantees to be in accordance with IMO’s latest version of Marpol 73/78 Annex V, and fulfils all therein specified requirements. The plan will be written specially for the vessel in question and provides written procedures for collection, storing, processing and disposal of garbage.
