KONE Marine is a separate business unit of KONE Elevators, and is the global leader in marine vertical transportation. We provide ship elevators and escalators with the latest technology, engineering and installation services, maintenance and spare parts, modernisations and refurbishments of existing equipment. Our expertise is based on KONE's leading-edge technology in elevators and escalators, as well as on our long experience in supplying solutions for the international marine industry. PASSENGER ELEVATORSPassengers expect – and should receive – nothing but the very best during their voyage. They should be able to move between decks and facilities easily, smoothly, safely and comfortably, without delays or interruptions. To accomplish this, well-designed and optimally-positioned elevators and escalators are vital. KONE passenger elevators are designed for heavy shipboard-use, without limitations on the technical performance. These modern elevators have an intelligent, microprocessor-based control system, and automatic traffic-control minimises passenger waiting times. Elevator-control functions, such as traffic-peak detection, peak booster function, advanced monitoring and command systems, and passenger-guidance systems, contribute significantly to the ship's lifetime profitability. KONE's elevator signalisation is designed to meet the most demanding passenger expectations for modern, attractive styling, while providing clear and easily understandable signals – essential to minimise passenger boarding times and to obtain full handling-capacity. Effective operation of elevator groups, in particular, depends on well-located, easy-to-read signalisation. KONE's passenger elevators are designed to run 24 hours a day, seven days a week, in the most demanding environments. SCENIC ELEVATORSKONE scenic elevators enhance a ship's beauty and elegance, and increase its value. Passengers appreciate their panoramic views, natural light and better visibility; the latter is a particularly important safety feature for many people. It is a challenge to integrate a scenic elevator into a ship's design. The glass-enclosed car must appear aesthetically pleasing and fit in perfectly with its surroundings, yet be reasonably priced and not demand long production lead-times. KONE's modular, pre-engineered cars, which embody nearly every desirable car shape using a variety of pre-designed flat or curved glass viewing screens, provide the perfect solution. SERVICE ELEVATORSKONE elevators intended for the ship's crew and service functions are designed for extra heavy-duty shipboard use with high technical-performance. Moreover, these elevators are available with the same intelligent, microprocessor-based control system and automation as described earlier, thus minimising the waiting times and contributing to the ship's lifetime profitability. LUGGAGE AND GOODS VERTICAL TRANSPORTATION During the short stay at port, a ship operator needs efficient vertical transportation of luggage and goods. KONE has responded to this need by providing a range of elevator designs and sizes with strong machinery and elevator cars that can be customized according to the logistic needs. KONE service elevators are made to run 24 hours a day, seven days a week, in the most demanding environments, and designed to meet strict hygienic requirements. The stainless-steel cladding of the elevator car can be optionally provided with smooth and rounded corner profiles to make them hygienic and easy to clean, according to USPH requirements. DUMB WAITERS KONE also provides small, low-speed, chain-driven elevators, or dumb-waiters, specifically designed for the transportation of food or goods over short distances. These elevators are supplied with a self-supporting trunk or shaft, and hinged or vertical sliding doors. The inside of the elevator car is clad with galvanized sheet steel or brushed stainless steel according to requirements. The lifting capacity of KONE's dumb-waiters is 100kg up to 1000kg. LOW-SPEED ELEVATORSKONE's low-speed marine elevators are ideal when space is limited, providing:
KONE's chain-operated, plug-in elevators are ideally suited for installations where space is limited. They can be fitted and commissioned within a matter of days, and are frequently used in modernisation or retrofit applications. The MC 2000 is especially designed to provide easy wheelchair-access. It has open-platform construction, a speed of 0.15m/s and a maximum lifting-height of 9m. The MC 3000 has fully-enclosed car construction, a speed of 0.3m/s and a maximum lifting-height of 14m. CUSTOMISED MARINE ELEVATORSKONE provides a wide range of standard and customised elevators to suit your specific requirements.
