ScanMarine Outfitting the New Deck House on the Icebreaker Oden

03 July 2008

During its eight-week docking period (from April to June) at Öresundsvarvet shipyard in Landskrona, Sweden, the famous Swedish icebreaker Oden was outfitted with a new accommodation deck house. The new deck house is placed on the old helicopter deck, containing seven cabins and a store area, including one fridge and one freezer room. The total new area is circa 330m². A new helicopter landing place is to be created on the roof of the deck house.

The shipyard made all the steel and piping works, and ScanMarine carried out all other outfitting of the new deckhouse – including insulation, interior, ventilation, electrical and fire protection – according to a turnkey concept.

The icebreaker Oden is famous for the ship's ability to sail in Arctic water areas, where few other ships in the world are able to sale. Today the ship is used mainly for scientific expeditions, and with the new deck house, the ship is able to accommodate 14 personal larger expeditions.
