Macduff to Design New Aquaculture Workboat for Inverlussa Marine ServicesMacduff Ship Design
Macduff Ship Design are pleased to announce a new contract for the design of a 23m workboat, designed as a support vessel for the aquaculture market. The contract continues the long standing relationship between Inverlussa Marine Services and Macduff Ship Design following two previous workboat designs. The build contract has been placed with Havyard Ship Technology in Norway and both parties are delighted to be working with Havyard on this project.
The vessel, to be named 'Gina Mary' is due for handover in April 2017, with an option for another vessel to be delivered in Q3 of 2017.
Lars Conradi Andersen, sales director at Havyard Ship Technology, is delighted with their appointment. "Inverlussa is a perfect partner for us as we enter a new segment, and with their long experience within both sea farming and operation of workboats, they offer good expertise. We are very pleased that they have chosen us, and hope that this is the start of a long and successful partnership."
Both Inverlussa Marine Services and Macduff Ship Design are looking forward to working together with Havyard on this project. During the tender process both companies looked at various shipyards around Europe and are satisfied that they have found a company with exceptional building pedigree and when Havyard came up with an excellent delivery time as well, the choice was easy. Judging by the products they deliver, there is every reason to have high expectations for the new vessel.
The vessel will measure 23m LOA x 9.7m beam x 3.5m deep and the ability to carry 100t of deck cargo. She has a full Caterpillar engine package with twin C18 main engines driving fixed pitch propellers in nozzles. The vessel is also fitted with a heavy duty stern roller, winch and chain stopper and accommodation for six, as well as three double cabins and a large galley, mess and lounge area.
