LDW

LDW - Marine Electric Propulsion Motors and Generators for Thrusters, Cranes and Winches

LDW is a specialist for designing and manufacturing tailor-made electric motors and generators for nearly all applications.

Traditionally, the marine industry is one of our main focus areas. Due to short production runs and special designs, we are able to offer our customers individually adapted and highly economical products.

Our product range guarantees the highest degree of safety for equipment due to the highest reliability, experience and design.

Our product range and service extends to most types of vessels, including cruise liners, cargo ships, naval ships and submarines, and includes:

  • Electric propulsion motors
  • Main generators
  • Motors for thrusters, compressors and drilling equipment
  • Motors for cranes and winches
  • Worldwide service

PROPULSION ELECTRIC MOTORS

LDW is one of the few companies to design and manufacture large electric propulsion motors up to 25MW - either induction or synchronous motors - specially designed for speed controlled drives.

Large propulsion motors are designed by using modern technologies, i.e. FEM-analysis, to meet the demanding requirements of cruise line vessels for the lowest values of structure borne noise and vibration, as well as high efficiency and reliability.

Specially designed DC propulsion motors, with high torque and low noise emission, can be offered for special vessels, i.e. icebreaker vessels, research vessels and submarines.

All motors are designed and manufactured according to the relevant international standards and ship classifications, i.e. LRoS, GL, RINa BV, DNV, ABS etc.

MAIN GENERATORS

Our product range includes main generators driven by medium speed diesel engines to span outputs from 5MVA to 25MVA.

Four pole generators driven by gas turbines or steam turbines at ratings of up to 50MVA are also in the scope of our product range.

A design line for low-speed shaft generators for low and high voltage is available too.

ELECTRIC MOTORS FOR COMPRESSORS AND THRUSTERS

Induction and DC motors with fixed speed, variable speed and high or low voltage to drive thrusters or compressors are within the scope of our products.

Our motors are optimised to ensure high efficiency, low noise and high reliability.

DRIVERS FOR CRANES AND WINCHES

We supply loading technology for all dimensions.

LDW's modern drive technology has gained us an excellent reputation. Our motors are no mass-produced product. We supply tailor-made DC and AC motors, the electrical and mechanical parameters of which are adapted to the specified application.

Possible applications are: quayside container cranes, rotary cranes, gantry cranes, wharf cranes, etc.

WORLDWIDE SERVICE

LDW provides services all around the world. Our experts, carrying out tasks from analysis to planning and execution of work, are highly professional. Speed reliability and keeping to schedules take absolute priority in all aspects of the work involved.

This support also includes service, maintenance and repair of products from other manufacturers.

LDW - THE COMPANY

Our trademark, LDW, stands for Lloyd Dynamowerke, a company which has been developing continuously since 1915. LDW, which began with the manufacturing of lightning and power systems for large ships, has developed into an internationally active high-tech company in the electrical engineering industry.

The basis of this successful development is a creative management, more than 200 highly motivated personnel, sophisticated, automated research, and developing and production departments.

LDW products reflect the high quality of the Made in Germany stamp. Their standard of quality corresponds to or exceeds international standards and ensures satisfied customers.
