Omnithruster - Waterjet Maneuvering Thrusters, Bow/Stern

Omnithruster is a global leader in the development of waterjet manoeuvring systems, delivering and installing innovative, patented designs, which provide diverse manoeuvrability and auxiliary propulsion, to vessels worldwide.

An Omnithruster can be relied on to produce thrust continuously, whether nozzles are in or out of the water, even in rough seas or strong currents, while pitching, yawing, rolling or heaving. Additionally, an Omnithruster produces thrust even when the vessel is underway at several knots. This surpasses conventional propeller tunnel thrusters, which in such conditions are subject to cavitation and can fail to produce any thrust at all.

PATENTED SYSTEMS: BASIC PROPRIETARY BUILDING BLOCKS

Omnithruster's patented system consists of five basic proprietary building blocks:

• Kinetic converter – takes input shaft energy and produces usable hydraulic energy by the use of a mixed flow impeller
• Steering vanes – continuously meter, or proportion, a percentage of the fluid flow to one or both sides of the vessel
• Nozzles – accelerate the mass of water creating a thrust force at the hull interface
• Thrust directors (optional) – deflect the water flow forward or aft, producing slow speed auxiliary propulsion
• The electronic control system – controls the 360° thrust vector resultant from a fixed or variable speed prime mover rotating continuously in one direction; there are no rotating parts that have to be stopped or started as thrust direction and / or magnitude changes

HT SERIES THRUSTERS: OMNITHRUSTER HT600

The HT series is built from our state-of-the-art JT custom technology. It encompasses all aspects of the Omnithruster principle in a compact, competitively priced package. The key benefits include small hull penetrations, compact design, low submergence requirement, as well as having effective thrust in current, emergency / auxiliary propulsion, and being serviceable while afloat. Additionally, it is non-polluting.

JT SERIES THRUSTERS: OMNITHRUSTER JT575AM

The JT series encompasses every aspect of the Omnithruster principle in a robust, time-tested package. The JT series is the number one choice for navies worldwide, including the United States Navy (MCM, T-AGOS, AGDS, T-AGOR, YTT), the United States Coast Guard (WAGB) and the Japanese Navy (MSO, MSC, AOS).

The Omnithruster projects extremely low noise characteristics when equipped with the patented OmniPhaser acoustical noise masking system. All in all it is ideal for military and scientific platforms. The key benefits include small hull penetrations, low submergence requirement, effective thrust in current and emergency / auxiliary propulsion, as well as being serviceable while afloat. Additionally, it is non-polluting.

COMPLETED PROJECT: T-AGOS 23 COMMISSIONED

The US Navy's newest SWATH ocean surveillance ship, the USNS Impeccable, is equipped with two Omnithruster JT1000TDs, providing full 360° proportional thrust with fixed speed AC motors. In sea trials, the ship achieved over five knots forward speed. This was due to the utilisation of Omnithruster's thrust director auxiliary propulsion feature, exceeding all customer design goals and specification.

OmniJet MODULE

The OmniJet module (OJM-450) is designed to be used in vessels with a wide beam, where conventional tunnel thrusters are not desirable. Currently, the OJM-450 is only available in a 75HP model.
