REINTJES - Marine Gearboxes for Main Propulsion Systems

Since 1929, REINTJES in Hameln has focused on marine propulsion systems and provided reliable marine gearboxes.

REINTJES is one of the major independent manufacturers of marine gearboxes worldwide. In Hameln the company designs, manufacturers and sells approximately 1,400 gearboxes per year. Besides standardised products REINTJES offers a wide range of special solutions for different propulsion systems. Customers are assisted and supported by an international sales and service network including subsidiaries in Antwerp, Dubai, Madrid and Singapore (with a branch office in Shanghai).

Gearboxes for work boats

REINTJES gearboxes of this series are designed for heavy-duty applications in work boats and special vessels with comparable requirements, e.g. oil tankers, trawlers, tugs, inland waterway vessels, ferries and icebreakers. The reliable gearboxes have a high efficiency and a long service life. They are available as reverse reduction gearboxes and reduction gearboxes with built-in clutches (offsets can be vertical or horizontal, and coaxial or partly offset axis). Furthermore REINTJES manufactures reduction gearboxes with or without clutches (offsets can be vertical or horizontal) and twin in / single out gearboxes with up to 4,500mm distance between input shafts.

Gearboxes for fast vessels

REINTJES gearboxes for this application convince by lightweight design and silent operation. They are available in different versions (vertical or horizontal; coaxial, diagonal or partly offset axis as well as input shaft below output shaft). These hydraulically actuated gearboxes are perfect for FPP, CPP or waterjet applications for fast vessels or other vessels with comparable requirements. Typical applications are SAR vessels, patrol vessels, motor lifeboats and megayachts.

Gearboxes for fast ferries

REINTJES gearboxes of this series have been specially designed for fast ferries and other vessels with comparable requirements. They have a compact and low-weight design, operate silently and are available vertically, horizontally and diagonally offset. These are the right gearboxes for water-jet application concepts for use in e.g. catamaran ferries, trimaran ferries and mono-hull ferries.

Special-design marine gearboxes

In addition to standard products, REINTJES designs and manufactures tailor-made and innovative propulsion solutions for special applications and requirements, e.g.:

  • Two-speed gearboxes
  • Intelligent gearbox system (IGS); IGS monitors the change in propulsion speed and the current shifting pressure in the multi-disc clutch; as a result, there is always the optimal pressure build-up and thus the maximum possible torque, whether during manoeuvring at low speed or during crash-stop manoeuvres
  • GADS (regulated active speed control system); the trolling valve application GADS provides the ship operator with access to a propeller speed much lower than that achievable at the minimum engine idling speed
  • Power take off (PTO) / power take in (PTI) combination

Whether for development, production or maintenance, REINTJES utilizes innovative technologies and modern manufacturing methods.

Marine gearbox service

Service is given top priority at REINTJES. Thanks to the well-organised spare-part management, REINTJES is in a position to reduce reaction times to a minimum, and, consequently, keep necessary downtimes for ship operators as short as possible. The international network of competent specialists and experts stands for comprehensive service and first-class support, 24 hours a day and 365 days a year. For the customer this means if any problems occur, the service staff will be there within 24 hours to provide on-site assistance.
