Founded in 1946, Vestas Aircoil is a Danish manufacturer of marine diesel engine OEM charge air coolers, cooling towers and heat exchangers. Vestas Aircoil designs engine charge air cooling systems for marine diesel engines, power generation engines, two- and four-stroke engines and gas engines.

These charge air coolers can be supplied for both new and existing marine diesel engines, no matter where the engine was built, or whoever supplied the charge air coolers originally.

MARINE DIESEL ENGINE OEM CHARGE AIR COOLERS

Vestas Aircoil has almost 50 years' experience in manufacturing marine diesel engine OEM charge air coolers for new engines. This experience has provided us with a profound insight into the complex issues of marine diesel engine OEM charge air cooling systems and, together with our bespoke design capabilities and in-house test facilities, explains why Vestas Aircoil supplies air cooler equipment to many of the world's leading marine diesel engine builders and licensees.

We are particularly proud of our longstanding relationships with MAN B&W, Rolls Royce, and Wartsila, for whom we provide many marine diesel engine OEM charge air coolers, along with design and technical support. 4-STROKE ENGINE COMPACT COOLER CHARGE AIR COOLERS

Vestas Aircoil's Compact Cooler charge air charger is extremely efficient, and perfect for use with four-stroke high-performance engines.

In order to satisfy the requirements of engines that can operate for longer periods between overhauls, the Compact Cooler charge air cooler features space saving measures and fins with a corrugated surface. This uneven surface produces the powerful turbulence that is so important for efficient heat transfer.

TIN-COATED COMPACT COOLER CHARGE AIR COOLERS

Compact Cooler fins are made of pure copper, and the entire surface of the airside is coated with tin for the ultimate bond between the fins and the tubes, owing to the provided heat transfer advantage.

At Vestas Aircoil, this process has been used for decades for OEM supplies and to this day provides an alternative for both new and old engines. The process extends the lifetime of the Compact Cooler charge air charger significantly.

EXPANDED CHARGE AIR COOLERS

Vestas Aircoil's range of expanded charge air coolers reflects the need for economy. Expanded charge air coolers offer the same level of approval and design standard, but without the tin coating.

The fins are attached to expanded charge air coolers' tubes by expanding the diameter of each tube beyond its point of elasticity – hence the name of the coolers. Expanded charge air coolers are now widely used by manufacturers all over the world.

HEAT EXCHANGERS AND ONBOARD RE-TUBING

In early 2005, Vestas Aircoil extended its range of heat exchanger activities to include:

• Onboard re-tubing – Vestas Aircoil has a worldwide supply of materials and / or labour to carry out the onboard re-tubing of tubes, tube plates, baffles, etc. as required
• Plate Exchangers (PHE) / coolers – Vestas Aircoil supplies most plate coolers and their associated plates and gaskets, often at considerable savings in time and money when compared to the OE product
• Shell and tube units – all aspects of work can be carried out, including cleaning, re-tubing, and design and build
• Generator radiators – new units, new cores or re-designed units if required
• A/C (Air Conditioning) coils – complete design and manufacturing service of heating, cooling and DX refrigerant coils
• Oil coolers – we offer quick replacement coolers using details taken from either the existing equipment or drawings
