The operation on board seagoing vessels or on off-shore installations requires the highest standards with respect to the efficiency, reliability and serviceability of technical components. This holds true for heating, ventilation and air-conditioning systems, which ensure optimal conditions for passengers, crew, cargo and machinery and are therefore vital to a ship’s operation.

Where the application demands we will design custom-made solutions to meet your specific requirements, for example when old systems need to be replaced in the course of overhaul or conversion of a vessel.

AXIAL FLOW FANS

Wolter Axial Flow Fans are commonly used for a variety of applications such as engine room or cargo hold ventilation. They are available in standard sizes ranging from 250mm to 1,600mm in diameter. Impellers are made of pressure die cast aluminium, steel or stainless steel, with a casing thickness of up to 10mm for open-deck installation, if required.

The standard design can be adapted to suit specific installation requirements or the rules of different ship classification societies. A range of alternative impeller designs allows to select the most efficient fan configuration for every duty.

As well as our standard range, the following special executions are available:

• Jet fans for CO-ventilation on car decks of ferries, RoRos or car carriers
• Special solutions for alternative (hydraulic) drives
• Smoke-extract fans (400°C/120min, 300°C/120min)
• Chemical-resistant fans for corrosive gases
• Explosion-proof executions
• Portable fans for the extraction of hot air or harmful gases or fresh air supply (e.g. during tank cleaning or welding)

DIRECT AND BELT DRIVEN CENTRIFUGAL FANS

Wolter offers a comprehensive range of centrifugal fans with either forward or backward-curved impellers. Direct-driven fans are available up to size 630 with variable casings thicknesses. Explosion-proof fans for hazardous areas and chemical-resistant fans for corrosive gases are also available.

AIR-HANDLING UNITS

Wolter strive to meet specific customer requirements, and will custom-design and manufacture complete air-handling units according to the yard’s specification.

AIRFLOW AND AERODYNAMIC DESIGN

During the design stage, Wolter is your competent partner for all questions of airflow design. Using different Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) software, we can evaluate airflows within and around the ship in different scenarios, allowing optimized duct and funnelling layouts. The proliferation of smoke fumes in different fire scenarios can be examined as well.
