Advanced Compressor Programme

15 September 2001

After several years of careful development, Sauer has completed its compressor programme.

To satisfy the increasing demands for industry compressors with easy maintenance, longer service intervals and better component reliability, the internationally based German compressor specialist "J.P.Sauer & Sohn", with over 60 years of marine compressor experience has developed a range of modern, state of the art, air and water cooled reciprocating compressors.

Six 3-stage aircooled compressors make up the range, all capable of operating at pressures of up to 40 bar with capacities of between 60 and 360 m3h.

For compressors of over 80 m3h, the participation into three stages instead of two give lower compression temperatures and consequently has significant benefits for the shipowner, including, lower running costs, longer maintenance intervals, less wear and tear, less servicing and greater reliability.

In the 1990's, Sauer introduced a very modern range of water cooled units suitable for handling fresh or sea water as cooling medium. These compressors are designed with the cylinders in a 90° V-configuration which gives almost perfect balance of the units.

The compressor sets have many advantages including:

Motor flange coupled to the compressor which means less weight and space required.
Replacable liners fitted to both stages.
Straight cooler tubes for easy cleaning.
Crankshaft with bearings fitted to both ends.
Pressure oil lubrication by gear, direct driven pump from the crankshaft.

There are three compressors in the range giving capacities from 110 to 430 m3h at pressures of up to 30 bar.
