Key distributor Cosalt Germany is exhibiting Comet marine distress signals at SMM – one of the most important shipbuilding shows of the year.

The distributor will be displaying Comet products and meeting clients on its stand B1.OG.120 at the Hamburg, Germany trade event from 7-10 September.

Cosalt Germany has had a long association with Comet marine distress signals, stretching back to the 1960s. Today, the Comet brand, which is manufactured in Germany, is known all over the world thanks to its high-quality, says Cosalt Germany Managing Director Ralf-Thomas Rapp.

More than 53,000 trade visitors are expected to attend SMM, which features almost 2,000 exhibitors from 100 nations.

Cosalt International is also at SMM and will be exhibiting Pains Wessex marine distress signals.

Comet and Pains Wessex are brands of Chemring Marine, the world’s leading supplier of marine distress signals to commercial and leisure marine markets.

New Chemring Marine Managing Director Justine Heeley will be attending the influential trade show along with German-based Sales Manager Holger Muegge to meet new and existing distributors and customers.

Available through over 200 distributors in more than 80 countries, Chemring Marine’s comprehensive range of products has been helping to save lives for more than 100 years and is specified by the world’s navies, merchant fleets, fishing vessels, rescue services, airlines and leisure craft. The company is based in Fareham, UK, and is part of the Chemring Group PLC.

Cosalt Germany stocks Comet SOLAS and leisure parachute rockets, hand flares, smoke signals, Line Throwing Devices, Manoverboard and light-smoke signals. Its best-sellers are items for liferaft serving and lifeboat equipment.

Germany is a big market for SOLAS signals; however, the leisure market is difficult due to legal regulations on buying, handling and selling pyros and qualification. As a result, only 54% of motor boats and 60% of sailing boats have marine distress signals on board and many are past their expiry date, says Herr Rapp.

Cosalt Germany has an excellent working relationship with Comet. “It is a very trustful, long-lasting partnership,” he adds.
