Mobilarm - Crew Safety Monitoring Systems

Mobilarm delivers crew safety monitoring systems that generate automatic and immediate alarms in the event of man overboard (MOB) or other personnel-related emergencies, for use on commercial vessels. These systems integrate with GPS and / or on-board navigation systems to provide in-water tracking of MOB casualties.

Mobilarm products enable offshore marine employers to remove significant identified risks from the workplace, reduce the likelihood of related fatalities, maximise the company's efficiency in emergency response procedures and therefore provide a safer working environment for their employees.

Wireless crew safety monitoring system

Mobilarm Crewsafe® is a wireless network, active crew monitoring and reporting system that immediately detects emergency events such as MOB. Safeguard your crew from going overboard undetected with a crew safety monitoring system that automatically raises a vessel-wide alarm in an emergency and ensures a fast and effective rescue of persons in the water.

In an MOB emergency, the system automatically logs a GPS waypoint to mark the incident location, provides range and bearing information back to the incident waypoint, and raises the alarm to alert all crew. Additional features of the system include manual alarm activation and individual duress alarm should an emergency other than MOB occur anywhere within the network's coverage.

Crew members wear a compact tag that communicates with the system via a network of wireless routers installed on the vessel. Based on 'fail-safe' principles, any break in the signal raises the alarm, meaning crew can be certain of full protection at all times.

Features include:

  • Scalable to most commercial marine environments
  • Automatic MOB alarm, crew location monitoring, paging function and information database
  • Total network management via multi-function touch screen or simple LED display console
  • Ergonomic tag design; includes manual duress button and strobe light
  • Routers feature input / output relays to connect to other devices, e.g. sirens, warning lights, engine shut-off
  • Connects to compatible GPS or chart plotter (NMEA0183) to log waypoint and provide trackback information

Automated locator beacon

The Mobilarm V100 VPIRB is the first fully automated locator beacon to transmit a 'man overboard' distress message and real-time coordinates of the person in the water via DSC and VHF to all vessels or receivers in range.

Since chance of survival is directly related to the length of time in the water, the automatic and localised MAYDAY means that the people in the best position to rescue a MOB casualty – the other crew on board – can be deployed as quickly as possible.

Features include:

  • Cost-effective personal safety device that is suitable for use in any maritime organisation or on any type of vessel
  • Designed to ATEX standards (approval pending) and complies with all relevant international certifications and national marine radio standards
  • Equipped with internal GPS receiver to transmit real-time coordinates and SOLAS-compliant strobe light for visual homing
  • No requirement for additional direction finding equipment or satellite rental time
  • Automatically activated on immersion in water or can be manually activated
  • Palm-sized unit weighs less than 200g
  • Portable; can be worn on belt, harness or PFD
  • Battery supports transmission for a minimum of eighteen hours
  • Ten-year battery shelf life
