Schat-Harding, the world's leading supplier of lifeboats and davits, has purchased the hull-cleaning company CleanHull Norway AS from a group of Norwegian venture investors.
CleanHull Norway offers cost-effective and environmentally-friendly ship-hull cleaning solutions to its customers. The CleanROV-concept is based on well-established underwater vehicles and technology developed through more than 10 years of sub-sea operations.
Ove Roessland, CEO of Schat-Harding, says, "This move into a new business area will boost Schat-Harding's direct services capabilities to shipping companies, taking us beyond LSA servicing. As we develop our world-wide network for LSA support it makes sense to offer shipowners other time-critical services from the same network. We believe that an increasing focus on reducing bunker costs and more environmentally-friendly operation will create demand for better hull cleaning, which we will now be able to provide worldwide."
CleanROV cleans ships' hulls quickly and economically, without harming the environment and without off-hire time. The CleanROV has been developed to perform ship-hull cleaning within new environmental rules, regulations and restrictions. The environmental rules ensure that no toxins from the hull coating enter the water. The CleanROV uses high-pressure water to clean without damaging the paint, using no-brush technology.
