Mariner Hand-Held Condition Monitoring System

Date
22 May 2007

Abstract

Historically, planned maintenance systems have utilised period overhaul schedules, driven by manufacturers' 'hour based' recommendations. Statistics also show that 60% of machinery failure is due to human intervention.

Condition Based Monitoring (CBM) has well proven theories, practices and benefits. CBM by vibration analysis is the natural progression using today's technology, allowing extended maintenance periods and minimum downtime due to equipment failure.

The Mariner data collector system is much more cost effective for marine use than previously available condition monitoring systems. The system is supplied complete with vessel-specific databases – built according to classification society requirements – at a one-off price; is very simple and intuitive to use; and has a traffic light system and photographic depiction, coupled with self explanatory graphics, to make it foolproof.
