KHI to supply boilers for Shell's floating LNG facility

20 September 2011

Kawasaki Heavy Industries (KHI) has received a contract from Technip to supply seven boiler units for Shell's floating LNG facility Prelude.

The boilers will be installed on the topside of the Prelude facility, and produce 220t per hour of high-temperature and high-pressure steam, which will be used for power generation and LNG production processes.

Shell's Prelude floating liquefied natural gas facility will be anchored over 200km offshore north-west Australia, in water about 250m deep.

So far KHI has supplied more than 1,200 boiler units for marine use including LNG carriers.
