MacGregor invests in software to improve RoRo vessels' efficiency

Cargotec subsidiary MacGregor has made an investment of an undisclosed sum to acquire the rights for a software solution from Lekven to increase the operational efficiency of its RoRo vessels.

The software is also expected to enhance the optimisation of port calls and related activities.

It will be further developed before launching in the market later this year.

MacGregor R&D and Technology senior vice-president Alexander Nürnberg said: “According to our strategy, we focus on widening our digital offering portfolio, and ships efficiency software is a natural addition to it.

“This business intelligence software is first of its kind in the market. It is easy to operate and has clear interfaces and reports.

"The software has had a 15-month trial with a global PCTC ship owner-operator in European ports, showing very positive results."
