Transas Marine, a developer of IT solutions for the marine industry, has unveiled a new 4-level ECDIS concept, designed to provide an IMO compliant solution for shipping companies.

The new range of products, known as standard, standard+, premium and premium+, features the company’s established Navi-Sailor software with additional technology, depending on the system chosen.

The company said that from the entry-level standard ECDIS to the Premium+ ECDIS multifunction display, all include a number of standard features with additional options.

Transas Marine product development director Anders Rydlinger said the company’s objective is to provide a solution to the market where a ‘standard’ system features the best available quality and at the same time is user-friendly and cost-efficient.

“On another side, there are shipping companies which want to utilise a comprehensive technology going beyond IMO requirements and with our new 4-level concept we cover all market requirements,” Rydlinger said.

The standard and standard+ packages are based on the Navi-Sailor 4000 ECDIS software, with basic ECDIS functions, including a 24in marine panel computer with ES6 trackball. They also meet all IMO and SOLAS ECDIS regulations.

The company said the standard+ adds planning and information functions, including additional chart formats, route planning functions and sensors and also offers AIS, ARPA and target management, tides and current information, playback, maps (user charts) and a Navtex interface.

The premium system is also based on the same software and offers similar basic ECDIS functions as standard and standard+, along with a multifunction display console that features marine LED display with RS6 computer, ES6 keyboard and ES6 trackball. The premium system features include a docking mode, reference points for mooring operations, dual chart panel, left chart panel (conning), special purpose objects, target simulator, trial manoeuvring, ports database and quick distance calculator.
