Orkot® TLM Marine has been used in a large number of rudder bearing applications worldwide.
The material offers the following advantages over traditional bearing materials:
- Non-conductive it protects against electrolytic corrosion
- Virtually no swell in water
- Dry running capability
- Protects housings from corrosion
- Elasticity reduces the effects of hammering
- Tolerant to misalignment and shaft deflections
- Raw material tubes available from stock or can be manufactured in one or two working days
- Easily machined on site
- Classification approval for up to 15N/mm²
When an interference fit is utilised:
- Can be fitted using a press / jacks or freeze-fitted with liquid nitrogen
- Can be fitted using a press / jacks or freeze-fitted with liquid nitrogen
- No additional retention method required
