Avalon Vista is the second of five Suite Class ships being built by the Dutch shipbuilder Den Breejen for Avalon Waterways. The ship was christened along with Avalon Visionary, the third ship in the class, in a ceremony held in Enkhuizen, Holland in May 2012.

With the launch of Avalon Vista and Avalon Visionary, Avalon Waterways now owns 11 luxury ships in Europe. Two more ships, Avalon Expression and Avalon Artistry II are set to be introduced in 2013.

Design and features of the European Suite Class ships
Avalon’s Suite Class ships are designed to provide the passengers with two full decks of suites to maximise the European river cruise experience. The line’s proprietary panorama suite design enhances comfort and indoor/outdoor experiences of travellers.
The owner claims that its new ships are the result of advanced engineering and a forward-looking approach to technology and design. The vessels are equipped with state-of-the-art navigational equipment.
The panorama suites are fitted with a 6.5m² wall-to-wall panoramic window which, when opened, converts the entire suite into open-air balcony.
The ship’s features include spacious public areas, lavish and comfy furnishings, designer lighting, enhanced sound insulation and non-smoking interiors.
The ship’s interiors boast modern-day décor featuring detailed woodwork and hand-made surfaces. The interiors are furnished with neatly polished metal and glass works throughout.
Avalon Vista staterooms and accommodation
The 135m long Avalon Vista river cruise ship provides accommodation for 166 guests and 47 crew members. She has two full decks of suites.
Apart from 66 panorama suites, which are located on Sapphire and Royal decks, the river ship has 17 Avalon deluxe staterooms and two royal suites.
Panorama suite comes has three categories (B, A and P) with each room covering an area of about 18.5m². The rooms in this suite are furnished with Avalon Deluxe beds with premium mattress covers. Facilities inside the room include a coffee table, sofa, toilet, sink, writing desk and a full-size bathroom with a separate shower.
The Avalon deluxe staterooms have close to 16m² living space. These are categorised into D and E, and are located on Indigo deck. The staterooms feature a queen-size bed, writing desk, toilet, shelves, sink, and a full shower with glass door.
The Avalon royal suites, featuring 27.87m² of living space, are the largest of all suites and are located on Royal deck. Each features and open-air balcony with a six-person seating area.
Stateroom amenities include hotel-style beds with memory foam mattress toppers, Egyptian super-combed cotton bedsheets, continental quilt, extra blankets when needed, night tables with reading lamps, hand blower, bath amenities from L’Occitane, three-door toilets with shelves, bathrobes and slippers, and a large mirror in bathroom.
Other facilities include baggage storage space below the bed, flat-screen satellite television, alarm clock, telephone with direct-dial facility, private climate control system and Wi-Fi access.
Suite ship dining facilities
The main dining room aboard the Avalon Vista ship is located on Sapphire deck. Cuisines are prepared by European chefs and are made from local and Western recipes. Guests are served with early-riser breakfast as well as late-riser breakfast every day.
Full buffet breakfast is served with wine and complimentary juices are offered with breakfast. Breakfast buffets contain foods that are high in energy, but low in cholesterol and fat.
Sky Bistro, an open-seating dining hall, is located on Sky deck. Panorama Bistro is located on Royal deck, the third level of the ship.

Viking Longship is a series of 12 new river cruise ships on order by the American river cruise operator, Viking River Cruises. These ships are scheduled for delivery in 2012 and 2013.
Avalon Vista has a well-stocked library. An internet centre, bar and hair salon are also located on Royal deck. There is an observation lounge and a panorama lounge on the same level.
The Sky deck features premium lounge chairs and shade awnings for protection against sunlight, game area, and whirlpool. A fitness room is outfitted on Indigo deck, the lowest deck in the ship.
