MarineShaft recently received a truck with a 56,000kg heavy round bar at its workshop.

At MarineShaft we want to give our customers the shortest delivery time, Whether a damaged propeller shaft or rudder stock is to be repaired or replaced.

To fulfil this, we have a large stock of class approved steel and a new piece arrived at our workshop; a huge round bar in material C-Mn with a diameter of Ø805mm and 14,000mm long was unloaded.

Manufacturing of one rudder stock and two hydraulic nuts for rudder stock

We recently manufactured a new rudder stock with the dimensions Ø440mm x 5,510mm for a bulk carrier.

The material was in stock, which meant that we could contact the involved classification society promptly for inspection of the material and acceptance of the manufacturing plan, and start cutting the bar.

Furthermore, we manufactured two nuts and a new upper and lower sleeve. The final inspection and approval of this work was carried out by a LR Surveyor.

Delivery time within two weeks.

This manufacturing job included on-site assistance from one of our service engineers, as we were asked to supervise the machining of the rudder cone. This on-site work took place at a shipyard in Turkey.

DanFish International exhibition

MarineShaft will be at the exhibition in Aalborg, Denmark, on 9-11 October.

DanFish International is an important exhibition for equipment to the fishing industry and we look forward to participating.

MarineShaft is specialised in complete repair of rudder arrangements and propeller equipment. We carry out cold straightening of all types of shafts with class-approval.

  • Complete rudder and propeller repair
  • On-site machining
  • Manufacturing of new shafts and parts
  • RSW / cooling / freezing
  • Other ship services

At the exhibition, we will focus on our class-approved laser cladding technique.

With this welding repair technique, we are able to solve cases, where normal welding is not allowed, or the extent of the repair is best solved with laser cladding.

The advantages of laser cladding include:

  • We can weld on high-carbon steel
  • The welding requires no heat treatment afterwards
  • The repair is very fast and cost-effective
  • The repair can be carried out on-site

You find MarineShaft at stand no. D808.
