The cruise sector is certainly no stranger to the idea of luxury. Lavish restaurants, extravagant suites and priceless art collections are only some of the most eye-catching initiatives cruise companies have undertaken in the past, as the industry marches into a new Golden Age of prosperity and growth.

But of all the projects and designs we’ve seen on board a ship, nothing is quite like the new Regent Suite on the upcoming Seven Seas Splendor, the latest product of industry giant Regent Seven Seas Cruises.

Designed by Sweden-based Tillberg Design, the suite is a masterpiece of interior design that, almost a year before the Splendor’s maiden voyage, is already booked for the majority of 2020.

Described by Regent President and CEO Jason Montague as “an unrivalled experience”, the suite is set to become the largest in the industry, spanning over 4,433ft2 and featuring two bedrooms, two-and-a-half bathrooms, as well as spacious living and dining areas.

Guests of the suite will have a range of exclusive services at their disposal, including first-class domestic flights to reach the ship and personal car and guides at every destination.

Due to set sail to Miami, San Diego and New York on its maiden voyage, the ship will thereafter offer spring, summer and fall packages to some of Europe’s most beautiful destinations, including the French Riviera, the Greek Islands and the Iberian Peninsula.

Sweet dreams in the most comfortable bed at sea

The master bedroom will occupy a whole wing of the suite; guests will be sleeping on a hand-crafted king-size bed decorated with a pinewood frame, steel springs, and layers of flax, horsetail hair and cotton and wool batting, and a mattress worth alone some $200,000.

As Tillberg designer Paulina Błasiak put it, “it will be the most comfortable bed at sea.”

Enjoying lobster and caviar in the living room

Chaotic and extravagant activities on board the ship will seem like a distant memory for the suite’s guests, who can choose to relax in its beautiful living room or host dinner parties in the spacious dining room.

The lucky (and wealthy) guests staying in the Regent Suite, which comes at $11,000 per night for two, will also have exclusive access to an additional private dining room in one of the ship’s best restaurants.

They will also be attended by the head butler, who will coordinate their activities, spa and driver services.

 Ocean-facing spa times

Among the most spectacular features of the suite are the ocean-facing spa and bathroom, which feature a floor-to-ceiling glass, heated relaxation loungers and a fully stocked bar.

In this majestic suite, there will also be space for a sauna – an area adorned with Italian marble and stone – a steam room and unlimited massage services.

Cruising into the sunset from a private balcony

“We wanted to create a one-of-a-kind experience for the guest to step out of the ordinary and into an extraordinary haven of luxury,” Tillberg designer Isabel Nilsson told Interior Design.

Heaven will probably look closer than ever from the Regent Suite’s private wrap-around balcony and its custom-made spa, which offers a breathtaking 270-degree view of the sea.

Set to be placed atop the bridge of the Splendor, the Regent Suite is undoubtedly one of the best viewpoints on the ship.
