ClassNK has signed a partnership agreement with TÜV Rheinland to jointly develop and deliver an efficient and realistic cybersecurity certification service for the maritime industry.

The partnership will work on the cybersecurity guidelines that target on-board software currently being developed by ClassNK.

Both the parties will use their knowledge and expertise to collaborate in the field of cybersecurity to further ensure the safety of vessels worldwide.

TÜV Rheinland chairman Dr Michael Fübi said: “We are one of the few organisations developing deep capabilities to offer this level of cybersecurity expertise to the maritime industry.

“The priority for TÜV Rheinland is to continue delivering its mature cybersecurity services to the maritime sector across the globe to protect shareholder investment from cyber attacks and strengthen the confidence of regulators and governments.”

TÜV Rheinland is primarily engaged in testing, inspection and certification of digital services that offer safety, cybersecurity and privacy.
