IPM general manager Salvador Sanchez said: “We have relied on Kalmar quay cranes, yard cranes and mobile equipment for many years, so we are delighted to continue our productive relationship as we invest in the future of our terminal.

“Kalmar has been deeply involved right from the start of this project, working closely with us to specify the equipment and ensure that it meets both our high standards and all relevant European quality standards.”

To improve operational efficiency, the cranes will be equipped with the Kalmar SmartRail automated gantry steering system with Container Position Indication (CPI).

Using Kalmar SmartFleet remote monitoring solution, the terminal can manage the equipment, resolve related issues, evaluate the condition, productivity and upkeep.

The company will supply both the STS and RTG cranes together in one combined shipment.

Recently, Kalmar received an order from port operator DP World to supply 15 rubber-tyred gantry cranes.

Last month, the firm won a contract to upgrade four ZPMC ship-to-shore (STS) cranes at the Eurogate Tanger container terminal in Morocco.
