Kalmar has signed a maintenance and support agreement with International Container Terminal Services (ICTSI) for the automated container handling solution deployed at Victoria International Container Terminal (VICT) in Australia.

VICT, the first fully automated container terminal in Australia, is situated at Webb Dock East in Port of Melbourne.

Location of the terminal, which received its first vessel in March 2017, offers easier berthing for ships, as well as faster turnaround times for imports and exports of goods.

The latest agreement includes VICT’s OneTerminal automated solution that includes the Navis N4 terminal operating system (TOS), 20 Kalmar automated stacking cranes (ASCs), and 11 Kalmar AutoShuttles.

Kalmar Terminal Logistics System (TLS) currently performs routing and execution for automated operations for Navis N4 TOS. The platform is linked to five automatic neo-Panamax ship-to-shore (STS) cranes via open Kalmar Key interface.

In a separate development, Kalmar secured a contract from Norfolk Southern to provide four SmartPower rubber-tyred gantry cranes (RTGs).

The RTGs will feature a suite of process automation solutions and are scheduled to be delivered by the fourth quarter of this year.
