Cargotec subsidiary Kalmar has received a contract to deliver one medium forklift, five empty container handlers and ten Kalmar Eco reachstackers.

The order was placed by ACFS Port Logistics (ACFS).

The contract also includes a complete scope of Kalmar Care service contract for a period of four years.

The equipment delivery is scheduled for the fourth quarter of this year, while the service agreement will come into effect in September.

Kalmar will provide the latest eco-efficient mobile equipment technology to ACFS, which will increase the fleet size in Australia to 44.

The Kalmar Eco reachstackers are expected to reduce fuel costs and emissions at the terminal.

The empty container handlers are constructed on the G-Generation platform of Kalmar, which offers easier maintenance and comfortable and ergonomic working conditions for the operators.

The equipment will be deployed at facilities in Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane.

ACFS Strategy and Developments general manager Akshay Hingorani said: “Kalmar’s local presence and the quality of their services were a key to us for placing this significant order. As we are running a 24-hour business, service and parts support is vital to keep our operation going.

“A full-scope service contract will also help us improve our operational predictability, reduce operational risk and equipment downtime. We were also impressed by Kalmar’s eco-efficient reachstacker technology, which can reduce fuel consumption by up to 40% compared to older machines.”

Kalmar Australia key account manager Kirwan Barr added: “We are very pleased to continue our collaboration with ACFS and look forward to supporting them in achieving their business objectives.

“They recognised the quality of our solutions and wanted to align their business with Kalmar who are leading the world in this technology space. This order also reflects the excellent work of our service and parts team on the ground.”
