Konecranes has won a contract to supply an automated stacking crane (ASC) system for the second phase of United Arab Emirates (UAE) based Abu Dhabi Terminals’ (ADT) Khalifa Port Container Terminal (KPCT).

The system will include a total of 54 automated rail-mounted gantry (ARMG) cranes.

With a lifting capacity of 40t each, the ARMG cranes will be designed to stack one-over-six containers high.

Out of the total cranes, 31 will be nine-wide and 24 will be 11-wide.

The cranes will feature automation controls and a Konecranes’ Active Load Control (ALC) system, which combines advanced sway control and horizontal fine positioning to enable efficient container handling during both automated and remote operations.

Konecranes previously delivered 52 ARMG cranes for the first phase of KPCT container terminal, which started operation in December 2012.
