Kongsberg Maritime and Bureau Veritas (BV) have tested the functionality and availability of the ‘DP Digital Survey’ application for dynamic positioning (DP) system performance and redundancy audits deployed on Bourbon vessels.

The Kongsberg Maritime application uses the remote survey tool to gather a comprehensive quantity of test execution and completion evidence to offer a distinct advantage for vessel owners.

Running on an industrial data management system, the DP Digital Survey application acquires information directly from the DP system.

From there, it will deliver the information to auditors through a secure cloud infrastructure, which will be followed by compulsory remote surveys.

Kongsberg Maritime Digital Performance vice-president Eivind Alling said: “This collaboration allows us to strengthen our core products by offering our customers tools that will reduce their OPEX and streamline their operations.

Kongsberg Maritime plans to capture and digitalise the best practices of DP auditors to automate the survey and redesign the survey process and tests to best fit the new tools.

The company will also set up a continuous DP Digital Survey framework to remotely monitor the performance and technical availability of the DP system.

Bourbon Operations director Frederic Moulin said: “With our partners, we are ready to extend this DP Digital Survey to sister ships in the coming months, and plan for further deployment later.”
