Dutch shipping firm Longship has placed an order for four ‘ultra-low’ emission vessels from Turkey’s Atlas Shipyard.
The first unit is due for delivery by spring 2024 and will hold the class notation Prepared for Methanol C.

Longship developed the design for the 8,600dwt vessels with Ankerbeer, a Dutch naval architect.
The design adheres to the EU Stage V standards applicable to non-road mobile machinery (NRMM).
According to the Groningen-based firm, the ships include a diesel-electric propulsion technology that lowers consumption by nearly 45% in comparison with existing dominant ship types of a similar size.

Longship noted: “The high cubic design featuring one fully box-shaped hold with 81.9m clear hatch opening in length is well suited for break bulk and project cargoes, and able to sail in open-top condition.”
