Marine liquefied natural gas (LNG) systems manufacturer MAN Cryo has agreed to deliver an LNG fuel-gas supply system for a Norwegian ship.

The system will be supplied to Norwegian ship owner Egil Ulvan Rederi. It will be installed on its multipurpose palletised-cargo and refrigerated vessel that is also called lift-on / lift-off (LoLo) ship.

Multi Maritime will construct the vessel’s MM85CC design at Tersan Shipyard in Turkey.

The 3,500dwt vessel will be 86m-long and 19.5m-wide. It is expected to be delivered late next year.

MAN Cryo will be responsible for building a vertical, vacuum-insulated 364m³ LNG tank and a complex tank-connection space, featuring two redundant LNG-supply trains.

It will also build an LNG cold-recovery evaporator along with an integrated bunker station (BS100-GR).

MAN Cryo head Louise Andersson said: “This specialised vessel makes its own unique demands for reliability and redundancy and we are happy to rise to the challenge with an innovative solution that includes a vertical fuel tank.

“Ulvan’s interest in clean technology goes hand-in-glove with our ambition to become a leading supplier of LNG-fuelled solutions. We are also very happy to work once more with such a valued customer as Tersan and look forward to developing our relationship even further in the future.”

The multipurpose LoLo vessel will operate between Tromsø in northern Norway to Østfold in the south-east. The vessel is also equipped to discharge fish food at fish farms.

In June, MAN Cryo won a contract from another Norwegian firm Nordlaks to supply an LNG fuel-gas supply system.
