Cargotec division Navis has launched its Compass visual workflow management application that digitises the workflow and standardises the way terminals work.

This helps to improve the quality of the planning process’ overall output and the efficiency of the terminal.

The easy-to-implement Compass application has multiple deployment options that are suitable for every terminal.

Compass will also help unlock a vast amount of data within the TOS using the Navis Smart technology.

Navis chief product officer Younus Aftab said: “At present, management of different tasks and processes across the terminal container flow take place in silos, with little standardisation or real-time information exchange, and few opportunities for collaboration.

“Our end-to-end application ensures the availability of critical planning information exactly when it is needed, enabling more informed decision-making and better service.”

The Compass application features end-to-end visual workflow management capabilities that enable users to see the upcoming vessel visits, comments and important vessel information.

The application also includes activities such as berth and vessel planning, execution, continuous improvement that take place before, during and after the vessel visit.

“Our end-to-end application ensures the availability of critical planning information exactly when it is needed, enabling more informed decision-making and better service.”

The Navis’ Compass application is beneficial for every member of the team involved in managing vessel visits to the terminal.

Navis chief strategy officer Andy Barrons said: “All users will now be on the same page and have access to the same information, leading to fewer instances of miscommunication.

“The real-time visibility alerts terminals to potential issues early on and allows them more time to take corrective action while a complete and visible list of planning tasks ensures that everyone’s priorities are aligned and leads to less idle time and rework.”

Earlier this month, Navis acquired Cloud-based Octopi Terminal Operating System (TOS) to provide operating software solutions for its terminal customers and offer support to several smaller terminals across the globe.
