NEC Brazil president Daniel Mirabile said: “The logistics industry is one of the fastest growing trades in Brazil and it requires advanced technology to ensure reliable security.”

“NEC has exceptional expertise in implementing these kinds of integrated systems, drawing on its extensive experience in developing smart city projects throughout the world, and we are proud to contribute to the safe operations of this leading port.”

After prolonged delays and cost overruns, the port of Acubegan began shipments at an iron-ore terminal in October.

The port is expected to start ship-to-ship operations in August 2016 with the natural gas company BG Group using the oil terminal to transfer up to 200,000 barrels of crude oil a day.
