CMA CGM Group and PSA International have started the second phase of their CMA CGM PSA Lion Terminal (CPLT) joint venture (JV) in Singapore with the addition of two mega container berths.

The newly added berths are situated at PSA’s Pasir Panjang Terminal 5 (PPT 5) in Singapore and will handle CMA CGM's large vessels, as well as those from its affiliate shipping lines.

PPT 5 had an initial annual capacity of two million twenty-foot equivalent units (TEUs) in July last year, while the new addition has increased the company’s total operating capacity to four million TEUs.

CPLT has also achieved an average gross berth productivity of more than 160 moves per hour for the mega vessels since January.

CMA CGM Asia regional office senior vice-president Jean-Yves Duval said: “This is another exciting milestone for CMA CGM as part of the Group’s continuing efforts to make Singapore our main hub in the region, while reiterating the importance of Singapore to our global strategy.”
