Victoria International Container Terminal (VICT), a subsidiary of Philippines-based International Container Terminal Services (ICTSI), has concluded the construction of a new terminal at Webb Dock in the Port of Melbourne, Australia.

To be owned by ICTSI, the newly completed container terminal features five Neo-Panamax quay cranes.

The new terminal was built under a 26-year concession agreement, signed between the Port of Melbourne and VICT in 2014.

The deal includes building, operation and expansion of the container terminal at Webb Dock East.

As part of its agreement with Port of Melbourne, VICT will use various technologies and innovations to deliver automated operations from ship to shore at the new terminal.

The first phase of operations is scheduled to begin by the end of this year.

In October of this year, ICTSI unveiled the first phase of its new greenfield terminal at its Basra Gateway Terminal located in North Port, Umm Qasr, Iraq.

A total of $130m was invested to develop the first phase of the terminal.

Once fully developed, the new terminal area will include 600m of quay and 50ha of yard area.
