Norwegian Cruise Line has received the delivery of its latest cruise ship Norwegian Encore in Bremerhaven, Germany.

Part of the line’s Breakaway Plus class of vessels, Encore is 1,100ft-long and weighs 170,000 gross tonnes. It has the capacity to accommodate approximately 4,000 passengers.

The ship offers a race track, laser tag arena with augmented reality and theatre experiences in the Galaxy Pavilion.

Passengers can also visit an Italian restaurant Onda by Scarpetta and watch a number of musicals on board, including the Kinky Boots, The Choir of Man, Happy Hour Prohibition: The Musical and also the Beatles cover band The Cavern Club.

Norwegian Cruise Line CEO and president Andy Stuart said: “Today, we celebrate the delivery of our 17th ship and the close of our history-making Breakaway Plus class – a feat that was made possible through a special collaboration with our partners at Meyer Werft.”

The new vessel’s first preview cruise will begin from Germany on 31 October. The ship will arrive at Southampton, England, on 2 November. On the same day, Norwegian Encore will start a voyage to the US and arrive at New York on 10 November. The christening ceremony will take place on 21 November.

In September, Norwegian Cruise Line announced a ban on single-use plastic bottles across its fleet of cruise ships, starting from 1 January 2020.
