Red and White Fleet has begun commercial operation of its new plug-in hybrid vessel, Enhydra, in San Francisco Bay, California, US.

Enhydra is said to be the first aluminium-hulled, lithium-Ion battery plug-in hybrid vessel manufactured in the US.

The vessel is equipped with three decks to provide views of the Bay and San Francisco skyline, as well as audio tour entertainment systems.

Its second level features a wrap-around viewing platform with access to the bow foredeck, while the fully open top deck is configured with seating arrangements for the passengers to view air and firework shows.

The 128ft-long and 30ft-wide vessel is designed to accommodate 600 passengers.

Red and White collaborated with BAE Systems to equip Enhydra with the HybriGen propulsion system.
