TMC Compressors (TMC) has won a contract from Vard to deliver the marine compressed air system, which will be installed on a stern trawler.

Vard is constructing the trawler for Norwegian fishing company Nergård Havfiske.

For the vessel, TMC will supply a comprehensive marine compressed air system, which includes service and instrument air frequency-controlled compressors and an air dryer.

The value of the contract has not been disclosed by TMC.

Vard is constructing the trawler according to the Vard 8 02 design, which was developed by Vard Design.

The design aims to meet the demands for fish health management, as well as efficiency and environmentally friendly operations.

TMC sales and business development director Hans Petter Tanum said: “Our marine compressed air systems are all about the higher capacity output of control and service air, but with lower energy consumption, service requirements and – as a result – lower operating expenses and harmful emissions to air.

“It is one of our contributions to an even more sustainable fishing and shipping industry.”

The vessel will be 80m long with a 17m-long beam. It will feature the catch handling solution of Vard with a live fish tank to ensure that the fish are in healthy condition until they are processed.

It also features an advanced fish factory, high cargo capacity for refrigerated and frozen fish and ensilage tanks to store the heads and guts.

In June last year, TMC won a contract from Vard to deliver the compressed air system for two cruise ships.
