Finland-based Wartsila has secured a contract to deliver a comprehensive cargo handling system for a new liquefied natural gas (LNG) bunkering ship currently under construction at China’s Nantong CIMC Sinopacific Offshore and Engineering (CIMC SOE) shipyard.

This new 8,200 cbm capacity bunkering vessel is being built for Italy-based shipping group Fratelli Cosulich.

Wartsila Gas Solutions received the order last month.

The scope of the order includes a complete engineering, design and equipment supply package for the cargo handling system, which will include boil-off gas (BOG) management control, loading and discharge system, and an integrated fuel supply system.

Additionally, the company will deliver the custody transfer and bunkering transfer systems.

While the equipment is expected to be delivered next year, the vessel will commence commercial operations in 2023.

It is anticipated to sail around Italy’s coastline in the Mediterranean Sea.

Last month, Wartsila secured an order to deliver its engines and fuel gas supply systems for two new RoPax ferries that are under construction at Finland’s Rauma Marine Constructions yard.

These ferries are being built for Australian ferry fleet owner and operator TT-Line Company.
