Wärtsilä has secured a contract to provide maintenance services for four tri-fuel diesel electric (TFDE) liquefied natural gas (LNG) vessels owned by Greece-based ship management company TMS Cardiff Gas.

The deal is an expansion of a technical management agreement that was previously signed between Wärtsilä and TMS Cardiff Gas in 2014.

It includes the supply of various Wärtsilä services such as Eniram’s data collection platform and advanced data analytics, which are designed to help TMS Cardiff Gas achieve optimal fleet operations via cost and emission reductions.

"The maintenance and upgrade service needs of the tri-fuel main generator engines on our LNG Carriers are technically advanced and require detailed planning."

The solutions are also intended to increase overall profitability.

Wärtsilä has also agreed to provide dynamic maintenance planning under the deal, which will offer a comprehensive view of each vessel’s performance, efficiency and improvement possibilities in conjunction with Eniram’s vessel digital performance management system.

In addition, Wärtsilä will be involved in the maintenance and optimisation of the vessels’ engines, thereby enabling TMS Cardiff Gasto focus on its core business more effectively.

TMS Cardiff Gas general manager George Kourelis said: “The maintenance and upgrade service needs of the tri-fuel main generator engines on our LNG Carriers are technically advanced and require detailed planning with a professional partner to ensure the engines’ reliable performance and the vessels’ operability.

“Through our five-year partnership with Wärtsilä and Eniram, we are confident that our fleet will continue to be our customers’ premium choice.”

TMS Cardiff Gas currently operates and manages a fleet of ten modern gas carriers, including six LNG units and four VLGCs.

The company is part of TMS group, which manages more than 120 vessels across the LNG, LPG, oil / chemicals, dry bulk and offshore sectors.
