Viking Line has contracted Wartsila to offer technical management for several solutions installed on its new climate-smart ship, Viking Glory.
This technical management agreement (TMA) will be valid for three years and includes six liquefied natural gas (LNG)-driven Wartsila31DF engines, two LNGPac fuel gas supply systems and three tunnel thrusters.
The contract will encompass maintenance planning for the aforesaid Wartsila equipment, along with on-demand distant operational and technical support.
Wartsila will also deliver its Wartsila Expert Insight, which enables advanced diagnostics and real-time optimisation of performance as well as emissions.
Viking Glory will sail between Turku, Finland, and Stockholm, Sweden, starting this month.

With a length of 222m and beam of 35m, Viking Glory will use 10% less fuel thanks to the installed technologies, which can also reduce climate impact and air pollution.

This strong collaboration will ensure that Viking Glory delivers on its promise.”
Earlier, the company signed a long-term optimised maintenance agreement for engines and other Wartsila equipment on board Viking Grace.
This vessel commenced service ten years ago.
In a statement, Wartsila said: “Optimised maintenance and technical management agreements form an essential pillar of Wartsila’s Lifecycle Agreements offering, helping to secure cost-effective and emissions-compliant operations across the lifecycle of customers’ vessels.”
Other Wartsila equipment on Viking Glory includes the Aquarius UV ballast water management system, Nacos Platinum navigation system and a dynamic positioning system.
Last month, Solstad Offshore partnered with Wartsila to find appropriate solutions to reduce the carbon footprint of its 90 vessel fleet.
