The ships will be of 8,000teu each and are scheduled for delivery from Q4 2012.

Evergreen has a fleet of 160 vessels and the new orders will increase the company’s orderbook to 73% of its existing fleet size, according to Reuters.

In October, the company ordered 20 ships worth $2bn from Samsung Heavy Industries.
