HHI Secures Order for Ten Container Vessels

Hyundai Heavy Industries has secured a $1.45bn order from Germany’s Hapag-Lloyd for ten container vessels.

Hapag-Lloyd restructured its order and expanded the capacity of its already ordered container ships to 13,200teu and ordered four additional vessels of same size, increasing the order value by $754m.

The large vessels are scheduled for delivery between 2012 and 2013 and comply with all environmental requirements.

The vessels will be deployed in service on Far East routes operated jointly with Grand Alliance partners.
