Japan Newbuild Construction Rises in November

Japan approved the construction of 47 ships at 1.73 million tons in November, a 26% increase on the same month last year. Japanese shipbuilders had an accumulated newbuild approval of 12.78 million tons during April-November, a 2% increase compared with the corresponding period a year ago

Japan approved the construction of 47 ships at 1.73 million tons in November, a 26% increase on the same month last year.

Japanese shipbuilders had an accumulated newbuild approval of 12.78 million tons during April-November, a 2% increase compared with the corresponding period a year ago.

The approvals included 46 ships ordered by overseas shipping companies, comprising 35 bulkers, two car carriers, two crude tankers, two product carriers, three chemical tankers, one LPG carrier and one Ro-Ro vessel.

The approval also includes a car carrier for a domestic shipping firm, according to asiasis.com.
